The Prime Minister’s schedule includes the launch of three new Vande Bharat Express trains, the inauguration of the Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line, the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 3 of the metro expansion, and a public address.
“Tomorrow, August 10, I look forward to being with the people of Bengaluru. Three Vande Bharat Express trains will be flagged off from KSR Railway Station to improve connectivity. To enhance Bengaluru city’s infrastructure, the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro will be inaugurated. The foundation stone for the third phase of Bengaluru Metro will be laid. A public programme in the city will be addressed,” PM Modi stated on X ahead of his visit.
At 11 a.m., PM Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat Express services from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station:
-
KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi
-
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar
-
Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune
With these additions, India’s Vande Bharat fleet will grow to 150 trains. Karnataka will now operate 11 such services, while Maharashtra, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir will also see an expansion of their high-speed rail networks.
Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 19-kilometre Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, connecting RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra. This corridor, comprising 16 stations and linking prominent residential, commercial, and industrial zones, has been developed under Phase 2 of the metro project at an estimated cost of ₹7,160 crore. The addition will extend the metro network to over 96 km, benefiting lakhs of daily commuters. PM Modi is also expected to travel by metro from RV Road to Electronic City, one of India’s largest IT hubs.
Later, he will lay the foundation stone for the ₹15,610 crore Phase 3 of the metro expansion, which will add over 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 new stations. This phase aims to significantly strengthen Bengaluru’s public transportation network and provide long-term relief from traffic congestion.
The visit will conclude with a public address at around 1 p.m., during which the Prime Minister is expected to outline the government’s vision for developing world-class transport infrastructure and improving the quality of life for Bengaluru’s residents.
