Patna, August 9 — Bihar Police on Saturday announced the arrest of two additional suspects in connection with last month’s murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital in the state capital.
The accused have been identified as Vijaykant Pandey, alias Rudra Pandey, and Rajesh Yadav, both residents of Buxar district. Acting on information provided by Yadav, police also recovered 190 grams of heroin from a location in Patna.
According to officials, Pandey was among the five gunmen who carried out the fatal attack on Mishra. “Of the five shooters, four are now in custody. The remaining accused is absconding and will be apprehended soon,” Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma told news agency PTI.
Mishra, a convicted murderer who was out on parole, was shot dead on July 17 when five assailants stormed the intensive care unit of a private hospital. CCTV footage of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the armed men opening fire at close range, killing him instantly.
Police have so far arrested four alleged shooters — Tauseef alias Badshah, Balwant Kumar, Raviranjan Kumar Singh, and Vijaykant Pandey. Several associates of the prime accused have also been detained, including Harsh, Bhim, Nishu Khan, Abhisekh Kumar, and Rajesh Yadav.
Investigations revealed that Rajesh Yadav allegedly supplied the firearms used in the killing. Police say further arrests are likely as the probe continues.
