New Delhi: Addressing the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan raised the Kashmir issue, expressing satisfaction over the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan earlier this year following heightened tensions.
Erdoğan stressed the importance of cooperation between India and Pakistan in combating terrorism, while underscoring that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved through dialogue in accordance with UN resolutions.
“We hope the Kashmir issue will be settled through dialogue on the basis of United Nations resolutions, ensuring the best possible outcome for our brothers and sisters in Kashmir,” he remarked.
Highlighting the broader regional context, the Turkish President added, “In South Asia, preserving peace and stability remains of paramount importance. We are pleased with the ceasefire reached between Pakistan and India last April after a period of conflict.”
