The Taliban has issued a stark warning of war should the United States attempt to reclaim the strategically significant Bagram Air Base, intensifying tensions across Afghanistan.
According to reports, the declaration came during a high-level leadership meeting held in Kandahar, convened by Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada. The session, attended by cabinet ministers, intelligence chiefs, senior military commanders, and members of the Council of Ulema, was called to discuss recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump.
President Trump had suggested the possibility of reestablishing American control over Bagram, cautioning that “serious consequences” would follow if the Taliban resisted. In response, Taliban leaders unanimously rejected any scenario in which the base could be returned to U.S. forces, vowing instead to prepare for a full-scale confrontation.
The Taliban also delivered a pointed warning to Pakistan, stressing that any cooperation with Washington would inevitably place Islamabad on a collision course with the group
