Qatar PM Demands “Collective Response” to Israeli Strike on Doha; Regional and Global Condemnation Mounts

Doha, Sept. 11, 2025 — Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has called for a “collective regional response” to Israel’s airstrike on Doha, warning that the attack threatens the stability of the entire Gulf.

Speaking to CNN on Wednesday, Sheikh Mohammed said consultations were underway with Arab and regional partners to determine the appropriate course of action. “There is a response that will happen from the region. This response is currently under consultation and discussion with other partners. The entire Gulf region is at risk,” he said.

He accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of dragging the Middle East into “chaos” and vowed that Israel must be deterred from “continuing this bullying.”

Regional Coordination and Legal Push

According to Al Jazeera, Arab states are preparing a joint legal strategy to pursue Netanyahu for alleged violations of international law. “We understand some sort of regional meeting will be held here in Qatar. Countries have pulled together their own legal team. They are looking at all legal avenues to have Netanyahu tried for breaking international law,” correspondent Charles Stratford reported.

Deadly Strike in Doha

The Israeli strike on Tuesday targeted Hamas officials who were meeting in the Qatari capital to discuss a U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire proposal. At least seven people were killed, including two Qatari security officers, though Hamas leaders said they survived the assassination attempt.

The attack has drawn international outrage. French President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, denounced the strikes as “unacceptable,” reaffirming France’s commitment to Qatar’s sovereignty and security.

Regional and International Fallout

The strike was part of a broader escalation, marking the sixth foreign country hit by Israel in 72 hours, and the seventh since the start of 2025. On Wednesday alone, Israel killed at least 35 people in Yemen in a separate attack.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah responded with sharp warnings. Deputy leader Naim Qassem said the assault on Qatar was intended as a message to oil-rich Gulf nations, declaring: “We are on the side of Qatar that was subjected to an aggression and we also stand with the Palestinian resistance.” He accused Israel of advancing an expansionist “Greater Israel” project across large parts of the Middle East.

Humanitarian Toll in Gaza

Meanwhile, Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip continues at devastating scale. On Wednesday, more than 70 Palestinians were killed in fresh airstrikes, bringing the total death toll since October 2023 to over 64,656, with 163,503 wounded, according to Palestinian health authorities. Thousands more remain buried under rubble.

Israel has intensified its assault on Gaza City, home to more than one million people, and issued evacuation orders affecting nearly half the enclave’s population — despite international warnings of worsening overcrowding and humanitarian catastrophe further south.

Rights groups accuse Israel of committing war crimes and genocide in Gaza, charges that Israel has consistently rejected.

Qatar Vows to Continue Mediation

Despite Netanyahu’s threats, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the country will maintain its role as a “trusted and impartial mediator” in regional and international conflicts.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored that Tuesday’s strike was intended to sabotage peace efforts. “Everything about the meeting was very well known to the Israelis and the Americans. It’s not something we are hiding,” he said.

Referring to the fate of the estimated 20 Israeli hostages still alive in Gaza, he added: “What Netanyahu did yesterday — he just killed any hope for those hostages.”
