Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday issued a strong warning against attempts to disturb communal harmony during the festive season, declaring that any act of anarchy would be met with consequences “that future generations will remember.”
The chief minister made the remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for several development projects.
“If anyone attempts to create mischief during the joy and enthusiasm of festivals, they will have to pay such a price that future generations will remember it,” Adityanath said.
In a pointed reference to radical slogans, he added: “‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ will not happen on the soil of Hindustan. Even imagining or dreaming of it paves the way to hell. If someone wants to go to hell, let them try to create anarchy in its name.”
Emphasising his government’s zero tolerance towards lawlessness, the chief minister warned: “Whoever tries to take the law into their own hands, whoever attacks innocent pedestrians, compromises the safety of women, or pelts stones during festivals, we will ensure they receive a one-way ticket to hell.”
Background of Clashes in Bareilly
Adityanath’s remarks come days after violent clashes broke out in Bareilly on September 26. Tensions flared in the Kotwali area outside a mosque following Friday prayers, when a crowd carrying “I Love Muhammad” posters clashed with police. The violence erupted after authorities cancelled a planned demonstration called by local cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan.
The chief minister reiterated that his administration would take strict measures to safeguard peace and ensure that public celebrations remain secure and free from disruption.
