Washington: An Indian-origin woman has been arrested in North Carolina for allegedly stabbing her husband during a domestic dispute over household chores.
The accused, identified as Chandraprabha Singh (44), a school teacher, was taken into custody after police responded to a distress call from the couple’s residence. Her husband, Aravind Singh, sustained injuries in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to police reports, Aravind claimed that his wife attacked him for not cleaning the house. However, Chandraprabha told investigators that the stabbing occurred accidentally during a heated argument, when she turned around holding a knife.
Police arrived promptly at the scene after receiving information about the altercation. Aravind was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. In his statement, he alleged that his wife had deliberately stabbed him in the neck.
Chandraprabha Singh was initially denied bail by the magistrate but was later granted conditional release. The court has prohibited her from contacting her husband during the ongoing investigation.
Following her arrest, Singh has been suspended from her teaching position pending further legal proceedings.
