A remarkable innovation has emerged from Uttar Pradesh, where a 17-year-old student has designed an AI-powered teaching robot named Sophie. The Class 12 student, Aditya Kumar of Shiv Charan Inter College, built the humanoid assistant using an advanced LLM chipset—technology commonly employed by major robotics companies.
A video shared on social media shows Sophie confidently responding to a wide range of academic queries. News agency ANI reported the development, highlighting the student’s ingenuity and the robot’s growing capabilities.

When prompted to introduce herself, Sophie states:
“I am an AI teacher robot. My name is Sophie, and I was invented by Aditya. I teach at Shivcharan Inter College, Bulandshahr… Yes, I can properly teach students.”
How the AI Teacher Was Built
Speaking about his creation, Aditya explained that Sophie is powered by an LLM chipset, enabling her to deliver accurate information and clear student doubts.
“I have used an LLM chipset to build this robot, which is also used by big companies that make robots. It can clear students’ doubts… For now, she can only speak, but we are designing it so she can write as well.”
Aditya emphasized the need for better research infrastructure for young innovators, saying every district should have a dedicated lab where students can experiment and develop new technologies.

Capabilities Demonstrated
During the demonstration, Sophie answered a series of general-knowledge questions, including:
- The world’s tallest building
- India’s first president
- India’s first prime minister
- Basic scientific concepts such as “What is electricity?”
- Simple arithmetic calculations like 100 + 92
Despite being in the early stages of development, Sophie responds fluently in Hindi and is already being used as a teaching assistant. According to Aditya, Sophie can even serve as a substitute teacher if a staff member is absent for the day.
