New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the seventh accused in the November 10 suicide car blast outside Delhi’s Red Fort. The latest arrest is of Soyab, a resident of Faridabad in Haryana, who investigators say played a key role in supporting the alleged chief bomber, Umar Un Nabi. According to NIA sources, Soyab’s arrest has helped the agency form a clearer picture of the terror network operating behind the attack.
Provided Shelter and Logistical Support
Soyab, a native of Dhauj in Faridabad and an employee of Al Falah University, allegedly provided Umar Un Nabi a hideout shortly before the blast and helped procure essential materials. Investigators believe he was aware of the conspiracy and intentionally assisted Umar by offering shelter and logistical support.
The NIA team, along with earlier arrested accused Dr. Musammil Shakeel Ganai, conducted searches at Soyab’s residence. During the operation, a grinder and a portable stove—suspected to have been used in the fabrication of explosive components—were recovered from Musammil’s house, where they had been concealed.
Soyab will be produced before the court today. The NIA is expected to seek his custody for detailed interrogation.
Six Others Arrested in the Case
With Soyab's arrest, the total number of accused taken into custody in the Red Fort blast case and the associated “white-collar” terror module has risen to seven. The others arrested earlier are:
- Ameer Rashid Ali: Key conspirator; facilitated the purchase of the vehicle used in the suicide blast.
- Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish: Provided technical inputs on drones and rockets; co-conspirator.
- Dr. Musammil Shakeel Ganai: Principal accused; allegedly involved in planning, coordination, and IED construction.
- Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather: Principal accused; suspected of involvement in recruitment activities.
- Dr. Shaheen Sayeed: Principal accused; linked to ideological alignment and strategic planning within the module.
- Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagai: Principal accused; allegedly offered ideological guidance and tactical support to the attackers.
