Mumbai, November 7: The Maharashtra government has announced that all beneficiaries of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana must complete their eKYC verification by November 18 to continue receiving monthly financial assistance under the scheme.
Launched in July 2024, the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is a flagship welfare initiative of the Maharashtra government aimed at providing ₹1,500 per month to women aged between 21 and 65 years with an annual family income below ₹2.5 lakh. The financial support is directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The state government began disbursing the October instalment of the aid on November 5, while also making eKYC verification mandatory to ensure transparency and prevent duplication. For the financial year 2025–26, the Mahayuti government has allocated a budget of ₹36,000 crore for the implementation of the scheme.
How to Complete eKYC Online (Through Mobile Phone)
Women whose mobile numbers are linked to their Aadhaar can easily complete eKYC online from home:
- Visit the official portal: ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in or open the official mobile app.
- Log in or verify your details using OTP authentication.
- Enter your Aadhaar number.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Submit the OTP to complete the eKYC process successfully.
How to Complete eKYC at CSC Centres
For beneficiaries whose mobile numbers are not linked with Aadhaar, the eKYC must be done through the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC):
- The CSC operator will verify the beneficiary’s identity using a biometric fingerprint device.
- The Aadhaar number will be entered into the system, and once the fingerprints are authenticated, the eKYC will be completed.
Documents Required for eKYC
Beneficiaries need to keep the following documents ready:
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank Account Passbook
- Mobile Number linked with Aadhaar
- Scheme Registration Number / Family ID / Beneficiary Code
Eligibility Criteria and Verification Documents
The scheme primarily targets women from economically weaker sections. During the verification process, beneficiaries must submit:
- Proof of residence
- Proof of income
- Aadhaar identification
- Bank account details
Authorities will verify the information to confirm eligibility before disbursing payments.
What Happens If eKYC Is Not Completed?
Failure to complete eKYC within the stipulated deadline will result in a temporary suspension of payments until verification is done. Once eKYC is successfully completed, the aid will resume.
Common Issues Faced During eKYC
Some beneficiaries have reported technical and documentation-related difficulties, including:
- Mismatch of name or date of birth in Aadhaar records
- Unlinked or inactive mobile number
- Server errors or portal downtime
- Aadhaar details not updated with the bank
Beneficiaries are advised to verify and update their Aadhaar and bank details in advance to ensure a smooth eKYC process and uninterrupted receipt of financial aid.
