NEW DELHI: Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother and close aide of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been remanded to judicial custody by the Patiala House Court. Following a stringent directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Anmol will be held in Tihar Jail for a period of one year.
The MHA's order is based on sections, including IPC Section 303, similar to those invoked against his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi. Crucially, this directive prevents any State Police force or agency from taking physical custody of Anmol Bishnoi for a year. Any police force, including those from Mumbai or Punjab, wishing to interrogate him must now do so exclusively within the confines of Tihar Jail, and he is barred from release during this period.
Anmol Bishnoi was recently deported to India from the United States, where he had allegedly been operating a terror syndicate on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, conducting radical activities from abroad. The ongoing investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has revealed that Anmol provided essential shelter and logistical backing to the gang's shooters and ground operatives. Furthermore, he is implicated in a racket to extort money into India from foreign countries, often collaborating with other criminal organizations.
The gangster's younger brother faces grave criminal charges across multiple states, linking him to several high-profile incidents. He is listed as the principal conspirator in the murder of former MLA Baba Siddique, an act allegedly motivated by Siddique's close ties with actor Salman Khan. Mumbai Police have arrested 26 accused in connection with this case. Anmol is also implicated in the recent firing incident at Salman Khan's Mumbai residence. Furthermore, he assisted in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, which was reportedly plotted by Lawrence Bishnoi while incarcerated in Tihar Jail. Records indicate that Anmol actively supported designated terrorists Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in orchestrating various terror-related activities across India between 2020 and 2023.
