The Citizenship Division of the Department has processed 31,000 Irish citizenship applications in 2024. More than 5,000 applicants are set to officially receive their Irish citizenship on Monday and Tuesday, according to reports.

The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) will host citizenship ceremonies over two days in Killarney. Applicants from more than 132 countries and from all 32 counties of the island will take the oath of fidelity and loyalty as they become Irish citizens.

Six ceremonies will be held across the two days, attended by Minister of State for Migration Colm Brophy. He will be joined by Minister of State for International Law, Law Reform and Youth Justice Niall Collins, and Minister of State with special responsibility for Community Development, Charities and Rural Transport Jerry Buttimer.

The ceremonies will be presided over by Judge Paddy McMahon, who will confer Irish citizenship on the attendees. He will administer the Declaration of Fidelity to the Irish Nation and Loyalty to the State.

New citizens will pledge to faithfully observe the laws of Ireland and uphold its democratic values as they formally join the Irish nation
