The Road Safety Authority has made some significant changes to the driver theory test for obtaining a driving license in Ireland. The Driver Theory Test (BW) in Ireland is now available in 22 languages with voice over. Now you can study and take the exam in Indian languages.
We are pleased to announce that the Driver Theory Test (BW) Cars, Tractors and Work Vehicles exam can now be written with voiceover in 22 different languages, Driver Theory Test Ireland, December 1, 2025, says on its website.
These include:
- English
- Polish
- Lithuanian
- Russian
- Romanian
- Pashto
- Dari
- Urdu
- Vietnamese
- Arabic
- Albanian
- French
- Georgian
- Somali
- Slovak
- Turkish
- Spanish
- Simplified Chinese
- Bengali
- Malayalam
This improvement means you can now complete your driver theory test using any of these language options at 40 test centre locations across Ireland.
How to choose your preferred language:
When you schedule your exam through the website, you will be asked if you need a voice-over.
Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu and proceed with your booking. Your selection will be automatically saved and applied to your check-in.
On exam day, the questions will appear on the screen in English, and you will be able to listen to the full voiceover in your chosen language.
If you prefer to book over the phone, please let the customer service representative know at the beginning of the call that you require a language voiceover. This will ensure that it is correctly added to your booking.
