Minneapolis: New video footage has emerged in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Macklin Good, who was killed while attempting to drive away from federal agents in Minneapolis.
The 47-second clip, believed to have been recorded by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer who fired the shots, is now circulating widely on social media.
Following the release of the footage, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said the video demonstrates that the officer involved was “innocent.” In a post on X, Vance accused sections of the media of misrepresenting the incident. “What the press has done in lying about this innocent law enforcement officer is disgusting. You should all be ashamed of yourselves,” he wrote. The White House later reshared the post through its rapid response account. What the Video Shows
The footage shows Good seated in the driver’s seat of a maroon Honda SUV, with a dog visible in the back seat. As an ICE agent approaches the open window, Good is heard saying, “It’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.”
Good’s partner then exits the vehicle and begins recording the officer on a mobile phone, stating that they are U.S. citizens and challenging the agent’s actions. Another voice is heard ordering, “Get out of the car.”
Moments later, as Good attempts to move the vehicle forward, the camera angle abruptly shifts. Multiple gunshots are then heard as the SUV begins to roll away. An expletive is audible from someone off-camera following the shooting.
The incident has sparked widespread political debate and public protests across the United States, with critics questioning whether the use of lethal force was legally justified or constituted excessive force. Investigations into the shooting are ongoing, and authorities have yet to announce whether additional footage or findings will be released.
