Kozhikode: Srinivasan Vengalil (63), a native of Ponnani and the husband of Rajya Sabha MP and Indian Olympic Association President Dr P.T. Usha, passed away late on Thursday night.
He reportedly collapsed at around 12.30 am at his residence in Perumalpuram, Thikkodi. He was rushed to a private hospital in Perumalpuram, but doctors declared him dead.
Srinivasan was a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). At the time of the incident, Dr Usha was not at home, as she was in New Delhi attending the ongoing Parliament session. Upon receiving the information, she has begun her journey back to Kerala.
He was the son of Narayanan and Sarojini of the Vengali tharavad at Kuttikkad, Ponnani. Srinivasan married Dr P.T. Usha, a distant relative, in 1991.
He is survived by his son, Dr Ujjwal Vignesh. Details regarding the funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
