Rain warning in 13 counties, possible disruption of essential services
Continuous rain is forecast this afternoon, with further flooding expected in areas already affected.
The east, north-east and south-east of the country are particularly at risk. Met Eireann says that further heavy rains on already saturated ground, combined with high river levels, are expected to cause further localised flooding and travel difficulties today.
A Status Yellow rain warning is currently in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford.
