‘Epstein Files’ Released, Casting Fresh Light on the Late Financier’s Global Network

New York: A new tranche of documents, widely referred to as the “Epstein Files,” has been released, shedding further light on the shadowy network surrounding the late American billionaire and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The records relate primarily to allegations that Epstein sexually exploited underage girls at his residences in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005.

The documents have renewed global attention on Epstein’s associations with a wide range of influential political figures, business leaders, members of royal families, and prominent public personalities. While the appearance of a name in the files does not imply wrongdoing, the disclosures have prompted renewed scrutiny of Epstein’s extensive social and professional connections.

Prominent Names Referenced

According to the released material, approximately 150 high-profile individuals are mentioned. Among those referenced are:

  • Political figures: Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, former Presidents of the United States, and Ehud Barak, former Prime Minister of Israel.

  • Business and technology leaders: Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, and Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Tesla.

  • Other public figures: Britain’s Prince Andrew, renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, and late pop icon Michael Jackson.

Key Allegations and Claims

The documents include repeated references to former U.S. President Donald Trump, with claims suggesting frequent mentions of his name in the records. Some documents allege that Trump travelled on Epstein’s private aircraft, known as the “Lolita Express,” during the 1990s. Trump has previously denied any improper relationship with Epstein.

Former President Bill Clinton is also referenced in connection with multiple flights on Epstein’s aircraft, as well as alleged financial links to Epstein. Clinton has consistently denied knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities. Reports indicate that both Bill and Hillary Clinton have expressed willingness to cooperate with any lawful inquiries should they arise.

Indian Links and Official Denials

The files also contain references to India, including an email allegedly sent by Epstein mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has categorically rejected these claims, describing Epstein’s assertions as baseless and the statements of a convicted criminal with no credibility.

The names of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and filmmaker Mira Nair are also mentioned in the documents. As with other references, no allegations of criminal conduct have been established solely on the basis of their inclusion.

A Long Legal Struggle for Accountability

The release of the Epstein Files is the result of years of sustained legal action by Epstein’s victims and their legal representatives, who have sought transparency and accountability. Of an estimated six million pages of records, roughly three million pages have been made public so far.

Victims’ advocates continue to call for the full release of all remaining documents, arguing that complete disclosure is essential to ensure that all individuals who may have facilitated or enabled Epstein’s crimes are held accountable under the law.
