New Delhi: What began as a routine phone-snatching attempt turned into a dramatic scene after alert passengers refused to let the accused escape from a moving bus. A video of the incident, now circulating widely on social media, has left viewers both shocked and amused.
According to reports, the man allegedly attempted to snatch a passenger’s mobile phone through the window while the bus was in motion, assuming he could flee instantly. However, his plan unraveled within moments. While News18 has not independently verified the exact location or date of the incident, it remains unclear whether the accused was later handed over to the police.
Thief Left Dangling Outside Bus
The video shows the alleged thief hanging precariously from a bus window, his legs swinging in the air as the vehicle remains stuck in traffic. Passengers inside the bus are seen holding onto him to prevent his escape, while people outside gather near the scene. Some bystanders attempt to grip his legs, ensuring he does not slip away.
Passengers reportedly acted swiftly the moment the snatching attempt occurred, managing to restrain the man before he could get away.
The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “Phone heist gone wrong on moving bus (phone snatcher got snatched).”

Social Media Reacts With ‘Instant Karma’ Jokes
The dramatic visuals and the passengers’ quick response quickly drew attention online, with many users describing the incident as an example of “instant karma.”
“Karma boarded the bus faster than he did,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Phone snatcher: ‘Easy money tonight.’ Bus passengers: ‘Not today.’”
Others quipped, “Phone snatcher got snatched,” and “Immediate justice—no FIR, no court.” Several users likened the incident to a movie scene, calling it a “plot twist” and “live-action drama.”
Similar Incident Reported in Rajasthan
In a separate but equally unusual incident, a burglary attempt in Rajasthan’s Kota recently failed after an accused became trapped in a kitchen exhaust fan while trying to break into a house. The incident occurred while the homeowners were away on a pilgrimage to the Khatushyamji temple.
Both incidents have reignited conversations online about public vigilance and the unpredictable consequences of crime gone wrong.
