Police say the car was speeding in the accident that killed 7 people in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Police say the car was speeding in the accident that killed 7 people, when a car carrying pre-university students crashed into a bike and a lorry.

It was found that the car was traveling at a speed of approximately 150-160 kmph. The six students and the biker who were traveling in the car died.

The deceased were identified as Ashwin Nair, son of TS Ajith and Smita Nair (Maya) of Cherunniyur, Chekkala Vilakathil (Sri Vilasam), Varkala (Kerala), living near Thanisandra Bharatiya City, Ethan John George, son of Thomas George and Pearl George, Enattu, Mallappally, Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Arhan Sherif, Ayan Ali, Farhan, Bharat (all 17 years old), and bike passenger Gagan (26), all natives of Kothannur (Kerala).  

The accident took place at 5.30 am yesterday at Satyavara in the Hoskote-Dobaspet corridor on the Satellite Town Ring Road. The students were going from Hoskote to Devanahalli. Ayan was driving the vehicle. The car, which lost control, first hit the bike on which Gagan was riding. Gagan fell down due to the impact and died on the spot. Then, he hit the back of the truck that was moving in front. 

The truck, whose axle was detached, lost control and overturned on the service road. The truck driver, Balasubrahmanyam (32), suffered minor injuries. After hitting the truck, the SUV crashed into the crash barrier on the road and remained stuck on it for about 150 meters. The group had gone in Ayyan Ali's father's car. 

These two, pre-university students, studied together in class 10. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after a postmortem at MVJ Medical College Hospital in Hoskote with the help of AIKMCC, Bangalore Kerala Samajam, and Kerala Samajam Dooravani Nagar activists.
