Thiruvananthapuram: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday announced its third list of candidates for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, naming 11 nominees and further consolidating its electoral line-up in the state.
According to the list, Karamana Jayan has been fielded from Thiruvananthapuram, while Raveendranath Vakathanam will contest from Puthuppally. Other key candidates include KR Rajesh from Chavara, R S Arun Raj from Chadayamangalam, and V Ratheesh from Peerumade.
The party has also nominated Vivek Gopan from Aruvikkara, TN Suresh from Kovalam, and S Rajasekharan Nair from Neyyattinkara. In other constituencies, Ajimon will contest from Mavelikkara, BS Anoop from Chirayinkeezhu, and Pandalam Prathapan from Adoor.
As per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, polling in Kerala will be conducted in a single phase on April 9, with the counting of votes set for May 4.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar Files Nomination from Nemom
Meanwhile, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar filed his nomination from the Nemom constituency, marking a significant moment in the party’s campaign.
Speaking to reporters, Chandrasekhar expressed gratitude to party leaders, workers, and supporters who accompanied him during the filing process. He emphasised his commitment to development, stating that he would work tirelessly to address local issues and transform Nemom into a model constituency if elected.
BJP’s Strategic Push in Kerala
The BJP is seeking to position itself as a strong contender in Kerala’s traditionally bipolar political landscape, which has long been dominated by the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF).
As campaigning gathers pace, both major alliances are intensifying efforts to either retain or reclaim power, while the BJP aims to expand its footprint and electoral influence in the state.
