Vasai West, Palghar A deeply disturbing incident involving the brutal assault of a four-year-old boy has come to light from Vasai West in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, triggering widespread outrage after chilling CCTV footage surfaced online.
The incident occurred at a residential housing society, where the young child was allegedly targeted in an act of revenge linked to a prior dispute between adults. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sandeep Pawar, a local autorickshaw driver.
According to preliminary investigations, the accused had an earlier altercation with the child’s father, Atul Kondhare, a resident of the same society. What began as a minor dispute reportedly escalated into a vendetta, culminating in the accused allegedly directing his anger toward the man’s innocent child.
The incident took place on Monday at around 7:30 pm, when children were playing within the society premises. The victim, identified as Vinesh, had reportedly climbed into a parked autorickshaw. The accused allegedly arrived at the scene, chased away other children, and singled out the boy.
In a sequence of events described by police as “extremely brutal,” the accused allegedly struck the child’s head against the metal frame of the autorickshaw. He then reportedly lifted the child by the legs, threw him onto the ground, and hurled him again, causing his head to hit the surface forcefully.
Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage suggest that the assault continued as the accused dragged the child toward a staircase on the first floor of the building, where further violence allegedly took place. The child’s grandmother, who attempted to intervene, was also reportedly pushed and assaulted.
The disturbing footage has since circulated widely, sparking anger and concern among residents and on social media, with many demanding stringent action against the accused.
The injured child was immediately rushed to Wockhardt Hospital, where he remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Doctors have confirmed that he sustained severe head injuries and continues to be under close observation.
Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 109(1), 115(2), 351(3), and 352, along with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which pertains to cruelty against children.
Authorities confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway. Officials have assured that strict legal action will be pursued.
Adding to public outrage, the accused reportedly showed no remorse for his actions, allegedly stating that he had acted out of revenge. The statement has intensified calls from the community for the harshest possible punishment.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about public safety and the alarming extent of violence against children, prompting a broader reflection on societal responsibility and the erosion of basic human values.
