USA/INDIA: United States immigration authorities have arrested two Indian nationals in San Diego, citing their alleged criminal histories and pending removal proceedings.
According to an official statement by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), one of the individuals, identified as Jaskaran Singh, was taken into custody due to a prior criminal record that includes a hit-and-run case.
In a post on the social media platform X, ICE stated that Singh had a final order of removal and would remain in custody while deportation proceedings move forward.
“ICE San Diego arrested Jaskaran Singh, a criminal alien from India with a final order of removal. Singh’s criminal history includes hit and run. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings,” the agency said in its statement.
Another Arrest Announced
In a separate case announced on March 6, ICE said it had also arrested another Indian national, Jashanpreet Singh, also in San Diego.
Authorities stated that his alleged criminal history includes charges such as threatening a crime with intent to terrorise, assault with a deadly weapon, and driving under the influence (DUI).
“ICE San Diego arrested Jashanpreet Singh, a criminal alien from India. Singh’s criminal history includes threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon, and DUI. He will remain in custody pending removal proceedings,” the agency said.
Pending Removal Proceedings
Both individuals are currently being held by ICE as authorities proceed with immigration enforcement procedures. Officials said they will remain in custody until further action is taken regarding their removal from the United States.
ICE has not released additional details about the timeline for the deportation proceedings.
