Massive fires erupt in parts of Tehran, raising fears of acid rain and dangerous toxic fumes

As the war in the Middle East intensifies, the United States and Israel launched overnight strikes targeting five oil facilities in and near the Iranian capital.

Four people were killed and massive fires were caused by US and Israeli attacks on oil refineries in Tehran.

Video shows massive fires burning in parts of Tehran, with the city shrouded in smoke. The toxic smoke has raised fears of dangerous acid rain, prompting Iranian authorities to order residents to stay indoors. This comes as tensions in the region continue to rise.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he was in constant contact with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and other “senior Saudi officials.” He said Saudi Arabia had given “full assurances” that it would not allow its soil, waterways or airspace to be used for operations against Iran.

Both countries are "fully" committed to the Beijing agreement, signed under Chinese mediation in March 2023,  Iranian President Masoud Pesheshkian has reiterated that his country will not surrender, despite repeated threats from US President Donald Trump.
