New Delhi: A video showing a young woman attempting to board a moving train on the Delhi–Agra route has gone viral on social media, reigniting concerns over passenger safety on railway platforms.
The footage captures the woman trying to climb into a coach after the train had already begun moving. In her first attempt, she loses her footing and falls back onto the platform. Undeterred, she quickly gets up and runs alongside the train for a second attempt, only to fall once again.
Despite the train gathering speed, she makes a third attempt. This time, with assistance from fellow passengers standing on the platform, she manages to pull herself into the coach. Observers have noted that she narrowly avoided falling into the gap between the train and the platform — an outcome that could have resulted in serious injury or worse.
Social Media Reaction
The video has triggered widespread criticism online, with many questioning the recklessness of attempting to board a moving train. Comments such as “She should have learned her lesson the first time” and “Is a train journey worth risking your life?” have been widely shared. While some acknowledged her determination, most users stressed that perseverance has no place in situations that endanger life.
Repeated Safety Violations Raise Alarm
Railway authorities have repeatedly warned passengers against boarding or alighting from moving trains, emphasising that such actions pose severe safety risks. Similar incidents have been reported in the past. In January this year, a passenger attempting to board the Kanpur–Delhi Vande Bharat Express was saved only after the loco pilot applied emergency brakes in time.
Despite continuous public awareness campaigns and strict safety advisories, incidents of this nature continue to occur, underscoring the urgent need for greater passenger responsibility and adherence to railway safety norms.
