Heavy Iranian attack on Sultan Qaboos port, one Indian lost his life, several US military aircraft crashed in Kuwait, over 1,200 Indian students stranded in Iran, global oil prices soar

The ship caught fire in the drone boat attack. The Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker MKD VYOM "was attacked by a remotely operated boat" around 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat Governorate, the Maritime Security Center said on US social media company X.

The tanker was carrying around 59,463 metric tons of cargo, it stated, adding that the attack caused a fire and an explosion in the main engine room, killing one crew member of Indian nationality.. There were 16 Indians on the ship. The rest were evacuated.

Meanwhile, the families of Indian students stuck in Iran are worried as the Israeli-Iranian conflict continues to escalate. More than 1,200 Indian students are stuck in Iran. They are currently unable to return to the country due to the closure of the airspace. Although many had returned before the situation escalated, some students remained in Iran for reasons including exams.

Since Saturday, Iran has fired 165 ballistic missiles at the UAE, 152 of which were intercepted by defense systems. Three expatriates have been killed in Iran's missile and drone attacks on the UAE over the past two days.

The dead were nationals of Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. Official figures also show that 58 people, both locals and foreigners, were slightly injured. Apart from Indians, the injured included residents of various countries including Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran and Sri Lanka.

The UAE Air Defense Forces conducted a strong defense. They shot down 20 ballistic missiles, 8 of which fell into the sea. Authorities also reported that they detected and destroyed 2 cruise missiles. They shot down 11 drones in the sky. However, 21 drones reportedly fell into populated areas.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense announced that several US military aircraft crashed in Kuwait this morning. However, he confirmed that all crew members on board the aircraft are safe. Following the incident, relevant authorities immediately launched search and rescue operations. The crew members were evacuated and transferred to the hospital.

As Iran's attacks continue in the Gulf region, fears of war have intensified and flight services to and from Kerala have been widely canceled.

Brent crude oil prices rose 4.5 percent to $76.07 (£60) a barrel. This was after crossing $82 (£65). US crude oil prices rose 3.9 percent. Airline shares across Asia also fell sharply, and investors moved into the dollar and gold as the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran intensified.
