Maharashtra: A violent assault incident has been reported from Kej taluk in Beed district, where a man was critically injured after being attacked with iron rods, cables, and wooden sticks by three individuals. The accused have been charged with attempt to murder, police officials confirmed.
The victim, identified as Nisar Sheikh, a resident of Kumbephal village, was reportedly standing outside his home around 11:00 a.m. on March 15, speaking with a vendor, when the incident began. According to the complaint, one of the accused, Rohit Deepak Thorat, confronted Sheikh and allegedly issued threats, questioning him aggressively and warning of dire consequences.
As tensions escalated, Sheikh’s wife and son attempted to defuse the situation. However, the accused reportedly used abusive language and issued further threats before leaving the scene.
Approximately 15 minutes later, Rohit Thorat returned accompanied by two others—identified as Swapnil Deepak Thorat and Dnyaneshwar Ashok Thorat—allegedly with the intention of continuing the confrontation. Armed with an iron rod, cable wire, and wooden sticks, the trio reportedly forced entry into Sheikh’s residence and launched a brutal assault.
Police reports indicate that Sheikh was first beaten inside the house and then dragged outside, where the attack intensified. He sustained severe injuries, including head trauma and heavy bleeding, after being struck multiple times with the iron rod, while the other two accused allegedly continued the assault using cable wire and wooden sticks.
During the attack, Sheikh’s wife attempted to record the incident on her mobile phone. Upon noticing this, the accused allegedly snatched the device and fled the scene.
The injured victim was initially treated at a sub-district hospital in Kej and later shifted to a government hospital in Ambajogai, where he is currently undergoing further treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by his wife, Shaheen Sheikh, a case has been registered against the three accused at the Yusuf Wadgaon Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder and other related offences.
The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Machhindra Nath Shendge, with Sub-Inspector Bhimrao Manjare leading the probe.
Authorities have stated that further action will follow based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
