Amroha (Uttar Pradesh): A woman from Amroha has been arrested along with her alleged lover and an accomplice in connection with the murder of her husband in a case that police say stems from a long-standing extramarital relationship.
The incident took place in Piplauti Kalan village under Hasanpur police station limits, where Mehraj alias Miraj (30), a mason by profession, was found murdered at his residence. Police have arrested three individuals in the case, including the victim’s wife, identified as Ruhi, her alleged partner Farman, and a third associate. Two knives and mobile phones were recovered during the investigation.
Alleged conspiracy and method of killing
According to police officials, the victim had discovered his wife’s alleged affair, which reportedly existed even prior to their marriage, and strongly opposed the relationship. Investigators say this confrontation led the accused to conspire to eliminate him.
As per the police account cited by local reports, the victim was allegedly sedated using sleeping pills mixed into milk before being attacked. He was reportedly restrained to a cot and fatally assaulted with sharp weapons while he was unconscious.
Following the incident, Ruhi allegedly attempted to mislead investigators by claiming that unidentified intruders had broken into the house, stolen valuables, and killed her husband. She is also said to have staged a scene of grief when relatives and villagers gathered the following morning.
Police investigation and arrests
Officials stated that inconsistencies in her version of events, combined with circumstantial evidence and witness inputs, led investigators to suspect her involvement. Subsequent interrogation reportedly resulted in the arrest of all three accused, who have been remanded to judicial custody.
Police further noted that tensions within the marriage had been ongoing, with reports suggesting the couple had been living separately within the same household in the days leading up to the murder. A domestic dispute during the Eid period on March 21 is also believed to have escalated the conflict.
Aftermath and wider impact
The case has left behind two minor children, aged five and three, who have lost both parental care amid the allegations and subsequent arrest of their mother. Local residents described the incident as deeply distressing for the family and the village community.
Authorities continue to investigate the full sequence of events, including the role of each accused in the alleged conspiracy and execution of the crime
