In a significant development, the Amravati Rural Police have confirmed a fresh turn in an ongoing case involving the alleged exploitation of minor girls and circulation of objectionable videos. Authorities on Sunday registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against Uzair Iqbal, an associate of the prime accused Ayan.
The action follows a formal complaint filed by the mother of a 16-year-old victim, who alleged that Uzair Iqbal played a key role in disseminating explicit videos via mobile devices. Police have since seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops belonging to the accused, as part of efforts to secure and analyse digital evidence.
According to Vishal Anand, the case against Iqbal has been registered after preliminary findings indicated his involvement in circulating the material. Officials have underscored that digital forensics will form the backbone of the investigation, with specialised teams examining seized devices to trace the origin and spread of the videos.
During the course of the probe, a statement from another minor victim, aged 15, has also been recorded. While her testimony has been included in the investigation, no additional charges have been filed on its basis at this stage.
Police sources confirmed that several critical video files have been recovered and are expected to be presented as evidence in court proceedings. Authorities are working to map the distribution network of the content and identify all individuals involved.
Emphasising the sensitive nature of the case, SP Vishal Anand has directed strict adherence to privacy protocols, ensuring that the identities of the victims remain fully protected. Officials have reiterated their commitment to pursuing the case rigorously and securing stringent legal action against those found guilty.
