Delhi Murder Case: Investigators Trace Key Phone Call as Accused’s Movements Emerge

In a significant development in the rape and murder case of a 22-year-old woman in Delhi, investigators have identified the individual whom the accused, Rahul Meena, was allegedly speaking to while fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage from the Amar Colony area shows the accused continuously on a phone call as he exited the residence shortly after the crime. According to reports, he was in contact with his cousin, Trilok, at the time. His mother, Mukeshi Devi, has confirmed the interaction.

During the call, the accused is alleged to have made incriminating remarks, indicating that he had committed a serious crime and anticipated imminent arrest.

Contradictory Claims During Interrogation

During police questioning, Meena reportedly denied involvement in a separate rape case in Rajasthan’s Alwar, claiming he had only travelled there to retrieve his mobile phone and had not harmed the victim. However, investigators have noted that the mobile phones of both the accused and the victims are currently untraceable, adding complexity to the probe.

Alleged Multi-State Crime Trail

According to police sources, the accused is suspected of targeting two victims across states within a span of a few hours.

On Tuesday night, at approximately 10:30 pm, Meena allegedly entered a neighbour’s residence in Alwar, Rajasthan, where he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman. He is further alleged to have threatened the survivor before fleeing the scene. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered based on her complaint.

Within hours, the accused is believed to have travelled nearly 200 kilometres to Delhi, arriving in the Kailash Hills area of south-east Delhi early the next morning.

Delhi Crime Scene

At around 6:39 am, Meena allegedly entered the residence of his former employer. The victim, a 22-year-old engineering graduate preparing for civil services examinations, was alone at the time.

When her parents returned home around 8 am, they discovered her lying in a pool of blood, and the house showed signs of having been ransacked.

Ongoing Investigation

The accused is currently in police custody for four days and is undergoing sustained interrogation as investigators attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish motive.

Authorities are continuing to examine digital and forensic evidence, including efforts to locate the missing mobile devices, which are expected to play a crucial role in the case.

The investigation remains ongoing, with officials working to verify all aspects of the alleged multi-state crime trail.
