The military action taken by Pakistan targeting militant bases in Afghanistan has further strained the diplomatic ties between the two countries. 
Pakistan launched this cross-border joint operation in retaliation for the recent terrorist attack on the Sindh Rangers office in Karachi.

Pakistan then claimed to have attacked terrorist hideouts and safe havens. 


The attacks were carried out in three locations in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar regions. Pakistani Minister Attaullah Tarar said that the army's move was in response to attacks by Afghan terrorists in Pakistan.
  • Targeted Areas: Pakistan carried out airstrikes and commando operations in three border provinces of eastern Afghanistan: Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar 
  • Pakistan's Claim: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar stated that 29 militants were killed, including Khan Farosh, a senior commander of the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar militant group Reuters 8am Media. A large cache of weapons was also destroyed.
  • Taliban's Response: Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid alleged that the Pakistani military targeted residential areas, resulting in thedeaths and injuries of several civilians, including women and children. The Afghan administration condemned the attack as a cruel and cowardly act of aggression.
