Violence breaks out at anti-immigrant protest in Belfast. Stabbed by immigrant

Violence breaks out at anti-immigrant protest in Belfast. Stabbed by immigrant. Protesters are going door-to-door to evict migrants from HMOs in parts of Belfast. Several properties are currently on fire. Several migrant homes have been set on fire by protesters following anti-immigration demonstrations in Belfast.

Protesters set a bus on fire during an anti-immigration demonstration on Newtownards Road in Belfast, organised in response to the knife attack in the city last night.

Tonight on Newtownards Road in the east of the city, masked men set fire to commercial bins and threw them at a glider bus.

Translink, Northern Ireland's public transport operator, said in a statement that it had suspended all services to and from Belfast, adding: "We completely condemn this attack on our service."

Northern Ireland Police said there had been sporadic clashes in several locations, including the setting of vehicles on fire. The police service appealed for calm and said officers were on the scene and responding to incidents.

In footage of the attack shared on social media, a man can be seen stabbing the victim in the head and neck as he lay on the ground.

Several people, including one man armed with a stick, can be seen fighting the attacker before police arrive. The stabbing took place in the Kinnaird Avenue area, near the busy Antrim Road in north Belfast.

A 30-year-old man from Sudan has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the attack on Monday night. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said a kitchen knife was recovered from the scene.

Police said the victim suffered serious injuries to his eyes and cuts to his face and back. The 40-year-old man remains in critical condition in hospital.

Calls for protests on social media have been raised over the fact that the suspect in the stabbing incident is an immigrant. It comes amid growing tensions following the killing of university student Henry Novak by Vikram Digwa, a Sikh man who falsely claimed to police that he was the victim of a racial attack.

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson has appealed for calm, urging the public to avoid a repeat of the previous chaos that erupted last year when two Romanian teenagers were charged with attempted rape in Belfast.
