TAIPEI — Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reported ongoing military activity near the island, detecting multiple sorties of Chinese aircraft and naval vessels operating within its surrounding territory.
According to defense officials, authorities tracked five sorties of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft alongside eight People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels and seven official ships. Of the aircraft detected, three sorties crossed into the northern and eastern sectors of Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Taiwanese armed forces have closely monitored the developments through joint intelligence and surveillance systems, deploying appropriate assets to respond to the movements.
Beijing views Taiwan as a breakaway province and an integral part of its territory, regularly deploying military aircraft and naval ships near the island as part of routine patrols and strategic messaging. Meanwhile, Taipei maintains its sovereign status, emphasizing that its military remains prepared to safeguard the island’s democratic borders and security.
