WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump warned reporters that the United States could soon launch military strikes against Iran's heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain site.
Speaking from the White House, Trump emphasized advanced U.S. space capabilities and intelligence infrastructure, asserting that Washington maintains constant surveillance over activity throughout Iran.
"We’re leading in space," Trump told reporters. "We know everybody that’s moving at Pickaxe, we know everybody that’s moving everywhere, all over Iran, and if anything goes bad, we hit them. We hit them hard."
Pickaxe Mountain, situated near Iran's heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment complex, features two deeply buried underground tunnel complexes excavated beneath solid granite. Because of its extreme depth, defense analysts have intensely debated the tactical efficacy of conventional bunker-busting munitions against the installation.
The latest warning underscores escalating tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear infrastructure, coming as U.S. and allied diplomats separately push to refer Tehran's nuclear program to the United Nations Security Council. Iranian officials have previously cautioned that any direct military action against the heavily guarded underground site would severely destabilize the region.
