NEW DELHI — In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, Indian security forces have eliminated Musa, the final remaining mastermind behind the Pahalgam terror attack, during a fierce gunbattle in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The intense overnight military operation concluded in the early hours with security officials officially confirming the Lashkar-e-Taiba commander's death following a heavy exchange of gunfire.

Following the Pahalgam attack, visual footage of four key terrorists had emerged, two of whom were previously neutralized by security forces during Operation Mahadev, while a third terrorist was killed in a subsequent encounter in Budgam. However, Musa had evaded capture until an intelligence-led operation successfully cornered him in his hideout late last night. Operating as a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander since 2022, Musa was the principal orchestrator of multiple high-profile terror strikes across the Kashmir Valley.

With Musa's elimination, security forces have completely neutralized all perpetrators linked to the Pahalgam assault. K.K. Hariprasad, a senior Indian Police Service officer and the Senior Superintendent of Police for Budgam, hailed the successful operation as a monumental victory for Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces, noting that this milestone marks a decisive turning point in eradicating regional terrorism, as follow-up sanitization and security operations continue across the area.
