Pakistani Warship Hits Indian Naval Vessel at Sea; New Delhi Summons Envoy

New Delhi- A Pakistani warship collided with an Indian Navy vessel in international maritime waters.

Lodging a strong protest over the provocative action of the Pakistan Navy, India summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to convey its displeasure. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that irresponsible and unacceptable actions by Pakistani naval units at sea led to the collision.

The ministry said in an official statement that the incident occurred in international waters and neither vessel sustained major damage. However, the MEA did not disclose the exact date or time of the incident.

The Ministry of External Affairs pointed out that the actions of the Pakistani warship were a blatant violation of Article 10 of the 1991 India-Pakistan bilateral agreement, which mandates prior notification of military exercises and troop movements.

India demanded that the Pakistani Chargé d'Affaires ensure all Pakistani military units exercise caution to prevent such dangerous provocations in the future and strictly adhere to the agreements signed between the two nations. The diplomat was also instructed to immediately bring the matter to the attention of the Pakistan Government and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
