THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — Promotions involving six Deputy Commissioners in Kerala’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department have reportedly triggered objections from a section of employees, who allege that seniority rules and established promotion norms were not properly followed.
The promotions to Joint Commissioner positions were part of the second phase of a departmental restructuring. Employees have raised concerns that some officers received better opportunities while others may have lost promotion prospects.
State Tax Commissioner P. B. Nooh also issued orders assigning additional responsibilities to six officers following the changes. Among the reported changes, P. Ratheesh of the Thrissur Audit Division II was assigned the responsibilities previously handled by P. S. Sivarajan of the Irinjalakuda Audit Division.
The objections relate to the treatment of seniority, transfers and the restructuring of posts. However, a detailed official response addressing the employees’ allegations was not available in the report.
