PESHAWAR — At least 33 people, including 32 students and a female teacher, were reported dead after the roof of a private school collapsed in Peshawar, Pakistan. Several others were injured.
The collapse occurred on Thursday at Al-Khair School in the Afridi Abad area. Rescue teams searched the debris for people trapped beneath the collapsed structure, while injured victims were taken to hospitals.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, including whether structural weaknesses or excessive weight on the roof contributed to the disaster.
Casualty figures varied across media reports as rescue and verification efforts continued. The final confirmed death toll may therefore change as authorities release updated information.
