CHANDRAPUR — A nine-year-old boy was injured after a leopard attacked and dragged him away from a group of pilgrims in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district late on Saturday.
The boy, a resident of Hyderabad, was travelling with a group heading to the Mata Mahakali temple from Ballarpur town. He was walking with a neighbour near Visapur toll plaza when the leopard attacked him and dragged him into nearby bushes.
Local residents joined police and forest department teams in a search. The child was found shortly after midnight with a deep wound to his neck and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Forest officials have installed camera traps to help locate the leopard. Further details about the child's condition have not been confirmed in the reports reviewed.
