HYDERABAD — A security alert was triggered aboard a flight from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad after a 12-year-old schoolgirl reportedly told a fellow student that there was a bomb on board.
The girl was returning from a school trip to Gujarat with classmates and teachers. A cabin crew member reportedly overheard the remark and alerted the pilot, who informed the authorities.
After the aircraft landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Saturday morning, it was moved to a designated area for security checks. Passengers disembarked while security personnel searched the aircraft and baggage.
No explosives or suspicious objects were found during the checks, according to reports quoting police officials. Police also said that no formal case had been registered because the student was a minor. She was counselled in the presence of her teachers.
Authorities have not reported any evidence of an actual explosive threat.
