US Steps Up Military Preparations Amid Fears of Fresh Iran Strikes

WASHINGTON — The United States is strengthening its military readiness in the Middle East amid reports that Washington and Israel are considering renewed military action against Iran. The USS George Washington carrier strike group operating in the Arabian Sea is reportedly preparing additional weapons, including missiles and bunker-buster bombs. Reports also suggest that the US and Israel are considering plans for a more intensive campaign after the November midterm elections. However, no final decision to launch a new attack has been confirmed.

Potential targets could include Iran’s energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities and missile and drone stockpiles. Additional aircraft, including aerial refuelling tankers, are also reportedly being deployed to the region. The developments point to preparations for a possible escalation, although increased military readiness does not necessarily mean an attack is imminent.

Meanwhile, the US State Department has reportedly begun reducing staffing at its embassies in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates amid heightened security concerns. Earlier, non-essential government personnel and their family members were ordered to leave Saudi Arabia. However, Washington has not officially confirmed that these measures are directly linked to preparations for fresh strikes against Iran.

Tehran has previously warned that any renewed US or Israeli attack could trigger retaliation against American military bases, warships and other regional targets. The prospect of a wider conflict, potentially involving more extensive military operations and stronger retaliatory strikes, has raised concerns across the region. Reports that Iran has plans to target undersea communications cables have not been independently verified.

Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has warned that another joint US-Israeli military operation could have consequences well beyond Iran’s borders. He said a renewed conflict could affect the future of other countries across the region.

Mohebbi argued that the confrontation extends beyond the battlefield to encompass Iran’s national identity, culture, religion and Iranian-Islamic civilisation. Protecting the country’s territorial integrity and preserving its national and religious identity were among the nation’s most important responsibilities, he said.

The IRGC spokesperson accused the United States and Israel of seeking to weaken and divide Iran by undermining its identity, erasing its culture and imposing their own values and models. He claimed that the unity and cohesion of Iranian society had helped defeat such efforts.

The military preparations and increased security measures at US diplomatic missions have heightened concerns about another escalation in the Middle East. However, there has been no official confirmation that a fresh US-Israeli attack on Iran is imminent.
