KOCHI — The Kerala High Court has dismissed pleas filed by former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter T. Veena and son-in-law P. A. Mohammed Riyas seeking permission to appeal against an order directing the registration of an FIR in the alleged CMRL bribery case.
A division bench comprising Justices K. Natarajan and Johnson John dismissed the pleas on Thursday. The applications challenged a single-judge order issued on October 9 directing the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau to register an FIR.
The case concerns allegations that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) made illegal payments to Veena’s company, Exalogic. The single judge had directed action under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The latest ruling concerns permission to challenge the earlier order. It does not establish that the allegations have been proved, and further legal proceedings may follow.
