Cyclone Murasu Intensifies; Andhra Pradesh Coast Braces for Landfall

New Delhi — Cyclone Murasu over the Bay of Bengal is intensifying and is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between the night of November 2 and the early hours of November 3, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The system is likely to make landfall between Nellore and Narsapur, prompting authorities to step up precautionary measures in vulnerable coastal areas.

The cyclone is expected to bring sustained winds of 100–110 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 120 kmph. The IMD has also warned that the system could intensify further before crossing the coast, potentially developing into a severe cyclonic storm.

Andhra Pradesh and parts of southern Odisha are closely monitoring the developing weather system. Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable locations to remain alert and follow official instructions. Fishermen have also been advised to stay away from the affected sea areas as weather conditions are expected to deteriorate.

Disaster management agencies are keeping preparedness measures in place as the cyclone approaches the eastern coastline.
