The CBI team along with the complainant searched two rooms in the Nila block of the hostel where Congress MP Hibi Eden was staying when he was a legislator.
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBI, which is probing the rape of a woman entrepreneur accused in a solar scam case against Congress leaders, on Tuesday raided the MLA hostel in Thiruvananthapuram.
The complainant alleged that in 2012, the Congress leader raped her in her room in the MLA hostel. The CBI had inspected rooms 33 and 34 as part of the evidence.
At the request of the complainant, the Central Agency took up the sexual harassment complaints registered by the young woman who was the kingpin of the infamous solar scam case against six Congress leaders last year after the state government handed over the case to the CBI.
The woman alleged that the then chief minister Oommen Chandy, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Hibi, Adoor Prakash MP, MLA AP Anil Kumar and former Congress leader and current BJP national vice president AP Abdullakutty had raped her. The state crime branch initially investigated the case but later the CBI took over the investigation.
The complainant had earlier appeared before the CBI probe team to record her statement. This is the first time since the CBI took over that strong action has been taken in the case. The Justice G Sivarajan Commission had also recommended a detailed probe into the alleged rape allegations made by the woman against Congress leaders.
