INDIA: Ban on Popular Front of India and associated organizations for five years; also criminalizing association

New Delhi: Ban on Popular Front of India and related organizations for five years. States like Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have requested the Home Ministry to ban the Popular Front. Prohibition was strengthened after the Bengaluru riots. The final decision regarding the ban was taken after taking into account various reports given by agencies like IB, RO, NIA.

The central government has declared the Popular Front of India as an illegal organization. The ban is for five years under Sections 3 and 4 of the UAPA Act. The Union Home Ministry stated that the action was taken following the finding that the activities of the organization were illegal. Now it is also a crime to work with it.

The ban also applies to affiliated organizations associated with the Popular Front. The ban is in view of national security and law and order. Government sources also stated that PFI's links with international terrorist organizations have been established. The central government also points out that some of the founding leaders of the Popular Front were leaders of the banned organizations SIMI and Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladeshi (JMB).

Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imams Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women's Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation, Rehab Foundation Kerala and affiliated organizations has been declared illegal.

International Relations of the Popular Front; It has connections from UAE, Qatar and Oman to Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and various parts of Europe. According to information provided by intelligence sources, the Popular Front was found to have links with three front organizations in Gulf countries namely India Fraternity Forum (IFF), Indian Social Forum (ISF) and Rehab Indian Foundation (RIF). According to related sources, the IFF is the most powerful link for raising funds for the Popular Front in the Middle East.

From UAE, Qatar, Oman to Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Europe, Bahrain, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Mauritius etc., Popular Front has ties. 500 million was sent from Mauritius to PFI to spread communal hatred in Uttar Pradesh after the Hathras gang-rape. In the Maldives, Hindus and Christians were framed on false blasphemy charges and sent back to India.

The role of the Popular Front has also come to light in the attack on his house, and leaders of the SDPI, the political wing of the Popular Front, were among those arrested in the Bengaluru violence.

At the international level, the relationship of the Popular Front with various terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State, has become clear. Investigation agencies have found that the Popular Front received financial support from abroad during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Assam, Delhi, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

National investigative agencies have found links to PFI operatives in various terrorist activities within and outside the country. PFI activists have acted as terrorists and terrorists in Syria and Afghanistan as well. The intelligence department has found that the Malayali terrorists still in these places are still in active contact with the PFI.

Yesterday, NIA raided PFI centers in seven states. The second phase of the search as part of Operation Octopus was conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Karnataka, Delhi and Maharashtra.
