NIA with another raid. It is reported that around 170 people have been taken into custody from the raids in seven states. Top sources said that the re-raid was launched after receiving information that the Popular Front was planning to organize violent protests against the first NIA raid.
The second phase of the search, which is part of Operation Octopus, is underway in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Karnataka, Delhi and Maharashtra.
170 people have already been taken into custody from the raid which started at 6 am in 200 places in seven states. The raid started again after that the Popular Front had targeted government agencies, BJP and RSS leaders and their organizations, quoting a report by the intelligence agency.
PFI has been disturbed by the arrest of senior popular leaders in the NIA raid and their imprisonment in Tihar Jail. Therefore, intelligence agencies have received information that they have organized violent incidents to disrupt the public peace of the country.
There is also a significant investigation into the financing of terrorist activities. Indians who donated funds to Popular Front's voluntary organization Rehab India Foundation will be trapped. The NIA and the Enforcement Directorate have already collected the list of those who provided financial assistance.
Investigations following massive raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the Popular Front revealed that the radical outfit had run several dummy organizations to deceive the agencies and evade arrest.
Government sources claimed that the PFI members knew that the government would take action against them for their dubious activities and hence they created several dummy organizations to mislead the intelligence.
ED has found that Malappuram, Kerala resident Popular Fund leader BP Abdul Razzaq has been making money transfers for Rehab India Foundation in Kerala, Gulf and other countries. Abdul Razzaq, a prominent leader of the Popular Front in Kerala, collected crores of rupees from abroad in the name of this organization. Investigating agencies have also found that crores collected from the Gulf and elsewhere were illegally transferred to the Rehab India Foundation.
The organization raised money widely by claiming to do social service work among poor Muslim communities in North India and North Eastern states.
Agents for Rehab India Foundation are also present in European countries. There are hundreds of people from countries including Europe, UK, Turkey, France, Italy, Malta, Ireland and others in the NIA's list.
The ED is already aware that the Popular Front of India is receiving financial support from the Gulf countries.
ED has frozen 10 bank accounts of Rehab India Foundation. The ED has also found that the Popular Front and its affiliated organizations have received large amounts of financial support from abroad. The investigation team started the raid after receiving clear information that the organization was trying to coordinate anti-national activities. ED and NIA found that all these were being used for terrorist activities.
The practice they followed was to transfer the funds collected from within the country to the personal accounts of various individuals and redistribute them to the accounts in the name of various organizations of the Popular Front.
