Manchester: A 62-year-old Sikh priest was brutally attacked on the streets of Manchester, Britain, and suffered severe brain injuries. The police released the video in search of the attacker.
The incident took place in the city's Northern Quarter at the end of June, but Greater Manchester Police released CCTV footage earlier this week to help identify the attackers. The CCTV footage shows that when the victim was assaulted and fell unconscious in the middle of the road, the assailant ran away from the scene. Greater Manchester Police have released CCTV footage of the attack and images of a man and woman they believe may be able to help with their investigation.
The victim's family later released a statement, describing him as a "devoted husband and father" who "lived, worked and supported a community in a city he loved for 37 years. Now more than two months after the incident, we are no closer to finding them and bringing them to justice for their actions," after the incident. His family said in a statement that his life "took a tragic turn" and that he had not spoken a word since the attack. The family said the victim was a person who "couldn't utter a single hateful or negative comment and taught those around him to be kind." The victim was "left for dead in the busy streets of Manchester" as a result of the "senseless" attack, his family said.
In a statement, DI Mark Astbury, of Longsight CID, said: “We have decided to release the CCTV footage with the family's permission to show the severity and senselessness of this attack and the need to ensure the perpetrator is found. Faces the consequences of his horrific actions."
