IRELAND: Happy Vijayadashami - Dussehra to all

Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, Dasara or Dashain, is a major Hindu festival celebrated at the end of Navaratri every year in the Indian subcontinent. Vijayadashami is celebrated as the last day of Navaratri celebrations. In North India, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated as Dussehra festival in Kerala.

Indian culture worships women as Shakti. Shakti worship is also the symbol of Navratri. Navratri celebrations have different aspects depending on the local traditions. Levels of difference range from Vidya Rambha in Kerala, Koluvei in Tamil Nadu, Dussehra in Karnataka, Ram Leela in North India, Durga Puja in Bengal and Kumari Puja in Assam.

Ashtami and Navami Dashami are the most important days of Navratri celebrations in Kerala. On the day of Ashtami, books are offered and on the day of Navami, tools are offered and offered to the goddess. Scholars believe that on the morning of Dashami, Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, Lord Ganesha, Lord of the world, Dakshinamurthy and Vedavyasan should be worshiped. It is believed that by taking their blessings, one receives knowledge and karma. Vijayadashami is considered to be aimed at resuming activities with more vigor, instilling knowledge in children for the first time, and intensifying studies in those who are still studying.

Children wrote their initials in various temples today. Special pujas and other ceremonies were held in the Devi temples. Vijaya Dashami is the day when children in Kerala enter the world of learning about the first letter. This is known as writing.

In front of Saraswati, the goddess of learning, the father, mother, guru or gurusthaniya places the child on their lap and writes 'Harih Sriganapataye Namah' on sand or rice. After that, 'Harishree' is written on the tongue with a gold ring.

As it is a very auspicious day, there is no need for a special moment for the commencement of education on Vijayadashami. There is no other day as special as Vijayadashami before the start of school. Kollur Mookambika Temple, Kottayam Panachikkad Devi Temple, Tirur Thunchan Param, Paravur Dakshina Mukambika Temple and Thiruvananthapuram Airanimuttam Thunchan Memorial are famous for their initiation ceremonies. Most of the temples and other cultural centers in Kerala have writing facilities.

Embassy of India in Ireland wishes everyone a very Happy Vijayadashami - Dussehra. #Dusshera2022 #Vijayadashami2022
