Andhra Pradesh: India's first private rocket launch was successful. This is a proud moment for the country. This has become a new beginning in the private sector of the country. The mission, named as the first, marks a new beginning in the Indian space industry. Vikram S, a sounding rocket of Hyderabad-based startup Skyroot Aerospace, was successfully launched. The mission was completed and the rocket landed in the sea.
Rocket development, design and missions are coordinated by ISRO. The launch vehicles manufactured by Skyroot Aerospace are named Vikram as a tribute to Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the founder of the Indian Space Program and a renowned scientist.
The rocket was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 11.30 am today. Vikram S is a small rocket with a height of six meters and a weight of 545 kg. The life of the rocket was only five minutes from launch to landing in the sea. The successful mission of the rocket, which travels at a maximum altitude of only 81.5 km, led to a historic moment.
The Indian Space Research Organization aims to transfer the launch of small satellites to the private sector. Inspace Chairman Pawan Goenka, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath and Union Minister in-charge of Space Department Jitendra Singh had arrived at Sriharikota to witness the launch.

Vikram S was launched with three payloads including a 2.5 kg payload developed by students from several countries including India under Space Kids India.
