The transmission of some programs recorded on Virgin Media Three, Four, More and VMTV Player will have some temporary effects.
Ireland Minister of State Ossian Smyth called it a "major hack" and said it was being investigated by the National Cyber Security Centre. The company said in a statement: “Virgin Media Television operates stringent cyber protection measures and systems across all our operations.
"Our ongoing security monitoring identified an unauthorized attempt to access our systems in recent days. Due to the precautions we have taken, there will be temporary effects on the transmission of some of our recorded programs on Virgin Media Three, Four, More and VMTV Player.
"We expect to resume normal service as soon as the review and verification process is complete." Virgin Media Television reported.
