Your dependents must show that they intend to stay here for at least one year to be considered ordinarily resident in Ireland. They will not automatically be considered ordinary residents based on your eligibility.
If you are a student from a country outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland or the UK and you are registered for a course of study lasting at least one academic year, you are usually considered to be a normal resident.
If you are here for a short period of time, you are considered a visitor and are not entitled to free or subsidized health services.
If you are not ordinarily resident in Ireland and you are not entitled to healthcare in any of the circumstances described above, you may have to pay the full amount for the services provided. In difficult cases, the HSE may provide urgently needed treatment at a reduced or no charge.
